I work with the figure because of the universal connection and understanding that everyone feels toward it. As my work has progressed from early pieces such as Four Women (1997) to later pieces like Milk Maids (2007) it has become more surreal and abstract. This direction has made it possible for me to manipulate the figure into more of an emotion, more of an idea.

My work is tied together by a surreal abstraction that gives it a feeling of the fantastic. The breaking down and melting of the pieces is the emotional bond between them.
